Life Saving Club

The Life Saving Club is run by volunteers for the benefit of the local community. All our lifesaving instructors are RLSS Lifesaving Instructor qualified, are members of the RLSS and have Enhanced DBS checks. The Club is a registered member of the RLSS and is insured to deliver RLSS approved programmes.

What happens during a lifesaving session?

Our aim is to make learning fun in a relaxed session. The session usually lasts 45 minutes and is centred on lifesaving skills. Whilst learning lifesaving skills, members not only gain skills and knowledge, they also develop their swimming stroke and improve their fitness without realising it. The delivery of lifesaving skills includes water skills, water safety, self-rescue, assisted rescue, CPR, basic first aid etc.

This list is not an exhaustive one but provides a flavour of what is covered. We follow the RLSS lifesaving curriculum supported by session plans and an awards structure. Feedback is given positively and members are supported in their learning and understanding.

We support those who want to train as lifesaving instructors or pool lifeguards.

The fee per session is £3.30 payable in 10 week blocks.
